After a horrific Improvised Explosive Device (IED) attack in Sankuri, Lamu County, three Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) personnel were killed.  

While the troops were on patrol, the bomb detonated near the Sankuri-Kiunga Main Supply Route (MSR), according to a KDF statement.  

The wounded soldiers are receiving treated after being transported to nearby specialized military medical facilities.  

KDF claims that a multi-agency team has since been established to hunt down the criminals and has increased the number of people manning the entry and exit points into and out of the area.

“Kenya Defence Forces recognizes the courage demonstrated by the personnel and appreciates the swift response by multi-agency teams operating in the area,” said KDF.
