Three suspected armed robbers arrested with guns, ammunitions in Lagos

In the Alakuko region of the state, agents of the Lagos State Police Command apprehended three alleged armed robbers. They found eight rounds of live ammunition and three locally manufactured handguns.

This was revealed in a statement released on Thursday by SP Abimbola Adebesi, the Police Public Relations Officer.

The statement claims that the suspects, Faruk Rasheed, 20, Olamilekan Ademola, 28, and Abidemi Oluwawemo, 21, were detained after reliable information connected them to purported criminal activity in the region.

Preliminary investigations, according to police, revealed that the suspects were supposedly skilled at stealing cars and robbing gullible people of their possessions.

"The search led to the recovery of two locally made pistols with five cartridges and a locally made revolver containing three rounds of 9mm live ammunition,” police said.

The recovery, according to the police, increased the total amount of ammunition taken from the accused to eight rounds.

“The suspects remain in police custody as investigation continues, while efforts are ongoing to arrest other members of the suspected robbery syndicate,” the police said.

In response to the development, CP Tijani Fatai, the Commissioner of Police, reiterated the command's resolve to destroy criminal networks that operate throughout the state.
