Thugs attack NDC candidate's convoy in Ebonyi, kill one, injure three

According to the Ebonyi state police command, Rollins Offia-Nwali, a Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate for the state house of assembly, had his convoy attacked, resulting in one fatality and three injuries.

According to Joshua Ukandu, the Ebonyi police spokesperson, the incident happened at the Amaezekwe community in the state's Ezza South LGA on Thursday at around 4 p.m., according to NAN.

According to Ukando, the command sent agents to the scene right away after receiving a distress call about a disturbance in the neighborhood.

“Upon arrival, the operatives found four individuals with gunshot wounds and a burnt vehicle,” he said.

“One of the victims was confirmed dead at the hospital, while the three others are receiving medical treatment.”

The NDC candidate claimed that suspected political thugs attacked his motorcade and set his Toyota Hilux on fire in a statement released on Friday.

Offia-Nwali further stated that he and his entourage made it out unscathed.

He urged young people in the state not to let politicians use them to further their own agendas and offered his condolences to those impacted by the attack.

“No political ambition is worth the life of any young person,” he said.
