Tinubu appoints Prof. Segun Aina as new JAMB registrar

Professor Ishaq Oloyede, whose term ends on July 31, 2026, will be replaced as Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board by 39-year-old Professor Segun Aina, according to President Bola Tinubu.

The President's Special Advisor on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, announced the appointment in a statement on Thursday.

Most people agree that Oloyede's ten years at JAMB were transformative. He completely changed the board's finances and operations within three years of taking office in 2016. From less than ?50 million between 1978 and 2016 to ?7.8 billion in 2017 alone, remittances to the Federal Government increased dramatically.

Between 2016 and 2026, JAMB sent ?20.7 billion in operating surplus and used its own earnings to fund people and physical development initiatives.

Aina is an expert in digital infrastructure, national examination systems, and institutional reforms. She teaches computer engineering at Obafemi Awolowo University in Ile-Ife. He is a renowned academic and systems specialist with a wealth of knowledge in digital infrastructure, public sector institutional transformation, and national examination systems.
