Gunmen operating a black Lexus RX vehicle shot and killed a police inspector assigned to the Ekiadolor Area Command.  

As at the time of publication, the names of the deceased police officers had not been made public.  

The event took place in the Ovia North-East local government area, close to Ekosodin Junction on the Ugbowo–Lagos expressway.  

The deceased Police Inspector was reportedly slain while conducting a regular stop-and-search in the vicinity.  

When he got close to the gunmen's car, they allegedly abruptly stopped, got out, and started shooting at him.  According to reports, his military rifle was taken away.
