UNN stops social campus activities that extend beyond 6 pm
The University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) administration has prohibited any social events on campus that take place after 6 p.m. Mr. Inya Egwu, the university's acting public relations officer, signed a statement containing the directive.
According to the institution, the regrettable event that took place at UNN on September 12 made the directive imperative.
According to NAN, a businessman named Chiebonam Nweze, also known as Power-Autos, was allegedly fatally stabbed. Nweze was a guest at a bonfire night hosted by the UNN Department of Archaeology and Heritage Studies students' union.
”Henceforth, the UNN management has directed that all such activities must be held strictly during the daytime and under the supervision of the University Security Unit.
” Social events of any kind will not be permitted on our campuses beyond 6:00 p.m. henceforth, ” the management said.
It was regrettable, according to the administration, that criminals from a nearby community took control of the fire event and started fighting.
The public was reassured by the management that UNN is still totally dedicated to providing a safe and secure environment for every member of its community and will keep taking all necessary steps to ensure that such an occurrence doesn't happen again.
